This Portugese volleyball FINAL is the ultimate graphic mishap

I don’t particularly care about Portuguese beach volleyball, and neither do you — but I do care about incredibly bad design decisions when it comes to sports advertising, and this might be one of the worst ever. There’s only one marquee word on this poster that needed to be communicated: “Final,” and well, here’s what they came up with.

The issue here is well, pretty clear. We don’t need to spell this one out — but how the heck does it happen? The problem is that the designer decided to use a scroll font on the ‘F,’ and then a normal serif for the rest of the word. This caused kerning issues, which is the spacing betwen the letters, causing them to run together and … you can see what happened here.

In any event, let this be a lesson for any aspiring graphic designers out there. Making a mistake like this can really be a pain in the butt.
