DeepSigma has launched a live paper-trading demo covering 77 real-world markets, using Cypherium’s patented blockchain technology to bring decentralized perpetual trading beyond crypto.

A team of former Goldman Sachs, Citadel Securities, Google and Uber professionals is bringing perpetual futures trading to traditional financial markets with the launch of DeepSigma, a decentralized exchange focused on real-world assets (RWAs).

Unveiled on October 13, the platform currently offers a live paper-trading demo spanning 77 markets, including U.S. equities, major stock indexes, commodities, sector ETFs and Treasury yields.

The exchange is powered by Cypherium, a Layer 1 blockchain backed by four granted U.S. patents, and aims to address some of the challenges that have made bringing traditional financial derivatives on-chain more complicated than their crypto counterparts.

Unlike tokenized asset platforms, DeepSigma does not require traders to own or take custody of the underlying assets. Instead, its perpetual contracts track real-world market prices through external data sources, allowing users to take long or short positions without owning the assets themselves.

Bringing Crypto-Style Perpetuals to Traditional Markets

Perpetual futures have become a major part of crypto trading, but applying the same model to traditional assets presents a different set of technical and market-structure challenges.

While cryptocurrencies trade around the clock, traditional financial markets operate within defined trading hours. Liquidity can also vary significantly, and price discovery becomes more complicated when underlying markets are closed.

DeepSigma is developing its infrastructure specifically around these differences.

Its risk-management framework includes multi-source pricing, mark-price mechanisms, position and exposure limits, circuit breakers, partial liquidations and an insurance mechanism designed for stressed market conditions.

The platform also uses a central limit order book alongside a clearing layer responsible for managing positions, collateral, margin and settlement.

“Crypto has already demonstrated the demand for perpetual markets, but you cannot simply take the same model and put a stock or commodity ticker on it,” said Sky Guo, CEO of DeepSigma and founder of Cypherium.

“Real-world markets have different trading hours, liquidity conditions, pricing sources and regulatory considerations. We started DeepSigma with those differences in mind.”

The current demo includes perpetual markets tracking major indexes such as the S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, Dow Jones Industrial Average, Russell 2000 and VIX. It also covers commodities including gold, silver, crude oil, natural gas and copper, alongside U.S. Treasury yields.

Beyond paper trading, DeepSigma’s terminal integrates market data, technical indicators, asset-specific news, portfolio tracking and a competitive leaderboard.

An AI Market Analysis Desk can also generate potential trading strategies, although the system operates entirely off-chain and cannot execute trades or move user assets.

Patented Cypherium Blockchain Powers the Exchange

A central component of DeepSigma’s infrastructure is Cypherium, the open, permissionless Layer 1 blockchain also founded by Guo.

Cypherium combines Proof-of-Work with HotStuff-derived Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus, an architecture designed to support high-throughput blockchain applications.

The technology is covered by four granted U.S. patents, numbered 12,443,569, 11,907,174, 11,516,006 and 11,411,721, covering blockchain consensus and related technology.

According to the project, Cypherium is designed to process hundreds of thousands of transactions per second, providing the underlying infrastructure for high-frequency financial activity.

Guo, who is also a named inventor on Cypherium’s patents, previously co-authored DLT Options for CBDC with Thomas Moser of the Swiss National Bank and has spoken at the United Nations Headquarters and Nasdaq.

Wall Street and Big Tech Experience Behind DeepSigma

DeepSigma’s leadership combines experience from traditional finance, quantitative trading and technology.

The team includes Albert Xu, the company’s CFO and a former FICC portfolio manager at Goldman Sachs, and Jenny Chen, its Chief Quant Director, who previously worked at Citadel Securities and was recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 Finance honoree.

Chaoran Wang, DeepSigma’s CTO, previously worked as an engineer at Google and Uber and founded quantitative trading firm UmiUmi.

The combination of financial-market and blockchain expertise reflects DeepSigma’s approach to building derivatives infrastructure for assets that operate differently from cryptocurrencies.

“The hardest part of bringing real-world assets on-chain isn’t creating another market symbol. It’s making sure the market still behaves sensibly when the underlying asset is closed, liquidity disappears or an external price moves sharply,” Guo explained.

Privacy and Regulatory Readiness Built Into the Design

DeepSigma is also developing decentralized identity infrastructure intended to support regulatory eligibility requirements without exposing unnecessary personal information on-chain.

The proposed system follows a “prove eligibility, not identity” approach, using zero-knowledge proofs to allow participants to demonstrate that they meet certain requirements without publishing their underlying personal data.

The company says it has designed the platform around U.S. regulatory frameworks from the outset and is working with specialized digital-asset counsel.

Rather than treating compliance as something to address after expansion, DeepSigma views regulatory readiness as part of its market-entry strategy.

For now, the platform’s publicly unveiled functionality centers on its live paper-trading demo across 77 RWA markets.

DeepSigma’s broader objective is to bring the perpetual futures model beyond crypto while accounting for the pricing, liquidity, risk management and regulatory requirements of traditional financial markets.
